What is Brazilian Zouk?

Brazilian Zouk is a fun, dynamic modern latin partner dance originating from Brazil. It is best known for smooth fluid movements, mesmerising hair flicks and creative connection.

The dance has continued to evolve from it’s origins in Lambada and other Brazilian dances, and has spread quickly and widely across the globe. We now have a huge network of dancers all across the world.

The term Zouk came from the music that led to the evolution - Lambada’s popularity began to decline in the 90’s, and the remaining dancers began to use primarily Zouk Caribbean music to continue dancing Lambada. (This music also has a dance “zouk” - hence Brazilian Zouk to distinguish the two). With the change of music the dance shifted and evolved, and the rest is history!
